Education:
I received a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Nutrition from Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY; completed a 1 year internship at the College of Saint Elizabeth, Morristown, New Jersey and am working towards a Master's of Science (M.S.) Degree.
I'm certified by the American Dietetic Association in Adult Weight Management and I'm a Certified LEAP (Lifestyle, Exercise, and Performance) Therapist, which is a program of non-drug intervention that fights inflammation from food and chemical sensitivities which cause Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Fibromyalgia Migraines.
Work Experience:
After completing my dietetic internship, I began working as an inpatient dietitian, seeing patients with a wide variety of medical diagnoses in a hospital setting. This helped me to understand medical conditions and the science behind nutrition, the pathways, and how what we put in our body affects us. At this time, I also began working as an R.D. at Nutrition Associates of East Brunswick.
After working at a hospital, I decided to take on a new role, consulting patients pre and post weight loss surgery at a private practice of bariatic surgeons. While working in this role, I was able to utilize my knowledge of nutrition science plus further develop my role as a counselor. I'm a firm believer that for any type of weight loss program to work, you first must change your thoughts and mind set. I believe this is the best way to begin creating a long-term nutrition plan.
I recently decided to move back to the hospital setting and am now spearheading the nutrition component for a new hospital-based bariatric surgery program. While working in this new role, I remain devoted to Nutrition Associates, maintaining evening office hours for clients.
I continue to devote my time to patients, making myself accessible through email and phone calls. I support them in their journey, as they can contact me and come in for weigh-ins as needed. There is no greater feeling than seeing someone you helped succeed, changing their life for the better.
"Progress, not perfection, will result in success."
